Happy New Year!
I hope this message finds you and your loved ones safe and healthy as we enter 2021 with hopeful hearts for a better year ahead. The board and our team at the Ohio Air Quality Development Authority (OAQDA) are looking forward to continuing to support Ohio businesses during the coming year as we work together to improve our air quality and do our part to revive the economic vitality of our communities that were so gravely impacted during 2020 due to the pandemic.
OAQDA implemented several changes this past year to strengthen our programs and customer service by streamlining processes when needed; utilizing improved technology; and establishing new, more transparent guidelines after listening to our applicants, borrowers, investment and community partners and many others. Our focus is to make our air quality services more accessible to Ohio businesses of all sizes.
During 2020, based upon feedback we heard from our valued stakeholders, we modified the administrative rules for the Clean Air Resource Center, our small business assistance program, to improve the process for applicants. As a result, we’re seeing enhanced activity and greater interest for more small businesses to participate.
In addition, we rebooted our program to support large air quality projects, developing the new Clean Air Improvement Program (CAIP). We updated existing guidelines to allow for more transparency and accountability to better gauge the impact of projects on Ohio’s air quality. We also recently revised our fee schedule for CAIP to better support our services and programs and align with similar conduit bond issuers.
For more details on the fee changes, please visit our website.
We remain focused on reaching every corner of the state to encourage applicants to seek support from the Authority. This past year, OAQDA supported a number of projects helping businesses achieve their clean air goals, ranging from neighborhood dry-cleaning businesses to larger, multi-faceted energy efficiency projects.
We recognize this has been a challenging year for many and want you to know that our team is committed to doing what we can to support Ohio businesses and help our economy rebound.
Looking ahead, we are pleased to share some exciting new developments with you in the near future that will help further our mission of improving air quality by supporting businesses, creating jobs and improving communities while enhancing the health and safety of all Ohioans.
